Our principal and staff
Our school team is committed to every student’s learning, wellbeing and sense of belonging. We work together to create a supportive and inclusive school where every child is set up for success.
Principal's message
Heathcote High School is proud of the opportunities we provide for our students to shine. Whether that be improving their academic performance, on the sporting field, on the stage or caring for our community. We aim to create a spirit of welcome to all people entering our school.
We have high expectations for all students and offer a wide-ranging curriculum, including an autism support unit, vocational education and training (VET) courses and gifted and talented programs. Our extensive extra-curricular programs, including debating, Duke of Edinburgh award, mountain biking and running clubs, dance, vocal ensembles, musicals and student leadership, allow us to provide a multifaceted education for our students.
We celebrate student hard work and development. We are in the top 15% of the State for value-added data – a measure of student growth from Year 7 to 9 and Year 9 to 12. Our students achieve strong HSC results and we have distinguished achievers across a broad range of subjects.
We have had outstanding success in recent years including 3rd ANSTO National Hackathon, State Drama, Drama Ensemble, School Spectacular, Southern Stars Dance, University Shield (State Rugby League) champions, Art Express, Art Rules, InTech and national representation in Mountain Biking. Our athletes have competed at state, national and international levels.
The passion of the Heathcote High School staff and their commitment to operating as a professional and cohesive team is one of the greatest strengths of the school. We are proud of the reputation we have developed for being a caring community who engage, support and challenge students to give of their best, strengthen their character and instil a sense of pride in their achievements. Every student’s progress is important, and our staff look for opportunities to encourage and support each student’s development.
We are fortunate to have generous ex-students who give of their time to inspire and help our students and a proactive and supportive Parents and Citizens (P&C) that enhances the operation of the school. Our school's facilities include extensive sporting and playing fields, a commercial kitchen, marine science laboratory, state of the art equipment including laser cutters and 3D printers.
We work closely with our partner primary schools, Engadine West, Heathcote, Heathcote East, Helensburgh and Waterfall through our partner primary schools program. Our students help with the organisation of sports carnivals and primary school students are invited to our musicals and music and drama (MAD) performances. The program provides Year 6 students from these schools with high school experience over a school term.
Central to my educational philosophy is a commitment to student and staff excellence and wellbeing.
Please contact me if you require any further information or would like a tour of the school.
