Dear Parents and Carers
Today we were advised that schools will start a “staggered return” for students from 11 May (Week 3, Term 2). We do not know exactly what this will look like for Heathcote High School students at this point, but we can advise families of what we know so far:
- Monday 27 April and Tuesday 28 April will be school development days. These two days are for staff only. This will allow staff to develop a plan for the continuation of learning for our students from 11 May.
- Students will return to online learning from Wednesday 29 April. Heathcote High School students will continue learning from home as they did at the end of Term 1. Parents are encouraged to keep their children at home, however, the school will remain open for students who must attend. Supervision will still be available for these students; however, they will be taught by their teachers remotely and will receive the same instruction as students working from home.
- From 11 May every student will have the opportunity to start attending school one day a week. A roster will be developed, and students will be advised which day they can attend. Students will be encouraged to work from home on the other weekdays (except for those students who have to attend as online learning cannot be implemented at home).
The school leadership team will work on establishing a plan to manage the staggered return of students to school. Parents will be advised of the structure and protocols for Heathcote High School by the end of Week 2 (8 May). As you can appreciate, developing a plan that works best for our families and staff will not be a simple process, as there are many complex processes to consider, especially in a high school environment. So, we ask for your continued patience and support while we prepare the best structure moving forward.
