Drama and Musical Productions

In 2014 Heathcote High School saw the return of the whole school production.  Parents and students alike enjoyed 'Alice's Adventures in Wonderland'.  Since then, Heathcote High School has produced "To Boldy Go", "Peter Pan and Wendy" and "Hating Alison Ashley".  The productions take place at the end of November, early December every second year. They are the climax of months of rehearsels and preparation.  The students, Mrs Coppock and the preforming arts team, work hard to bring new life to familiar tales.  Students give up two afternoons a week for three terms as well as Saturdays for many months to rehearse and parents and teachers vounteer their time to make costumes, props and assist with makeup on the night.  The production is also an opportunity for future students to see what opportunities exist for them at Heathcote High School, as several local primary schools attended the dress rehearsal and performed in our last production of "Peter Pan and Wendy".

Planning is underway for the 2019 production.  The final decison on the script will be made shortly and auditions will be underway.  Being part of the school play is the highlight of school life for many students.  It is wonderful way to make new friends and build relationships.  It is also a wonderful way to grow in confidence and explore creative talents.  Whether students are backstage, on stage or giving up their time to make costumes and props, every person is equally important in the process and a star in the making.  Although we are in the early stages of this year's production, excitement is already building for both students and teachers alike (we are even looking ahead to ideas for the 2021 production).

If a student or a parent would like to be involved in any way, they can see (or phone) Mrs Coppock in the English staffroom.  Performers, stage crew, lighting, sound engineers, designers, builders and makeup artists are all needed.
