At Heathcote High School Special Religious Education (SRE) classes for Years 7 and 8 students are taught by an authorised teacher appointed and employed by local SRE Providers. All of these organisations are on the Department of Education’s list of approved providers.
SRE for Years 7 and 8 at Heathcote High School occurs during timetabled lessons of one period once a fortnight.
During enrolment, you can choose a SRE option for your child from the school’s available approved providers. You can withdraw your child from SRE by selecting ‘Alternative Meaningful Activities’.
Opting into or out of these classes can be done at any time by writing to the school or through the online form.
Students whose parents have not given permission for them to attend SRE will be located in a separate space and will participate in supervised meaningful activities such as reading, quiet study or completing homework.
Heathcote High School currently offers Combined Christian SRE classes.
The Christian SRE curriculum is authorised by Anglican Diocese of Sydney. The name of the curriculum is Think Faith (Stage 4) and the curriculum website is http://thinkfaith.com.au
