Fours years ago Heathcote High introduced a Year 6 Enrichment Class for gifted students in our partner primary schools. It has been an outstanding success.
The class runs on Wednesdays during Term 2. Eligible students have the opportunity to participate inchallenging activities which broaden their perspective on learning while also taking them out of their comfort zones. Our current program includes learning experiences from across the curriculum – mathematics, drama and public speaking, art, food technology, science and the physical challenge of abseiling. The feedback so far from students and parents has been very positive.
In recent weeks the class has been involved in creating sculptures from recyclable materials and visiting the Art Gallery of NSW to continue their exploration of the artistic process.
Learning can indeed be fun.
