BRING YOUR OWN DEVICE 2016
Technology has become an essential part of education at Heathcote High School. To be able to live, learn, and work successfully in our information-rich society, students must be able to utilise technology effectively. Many students' lives today are filled with technology that gives them ubiquitous access to information and resources.
In the past, the use of computing devices not owned by the school has not been allowed during lessons. With many students owning mobile computing devices and frequently using these devices for their school work, Heathcote High School has recognised the need to allow students to utilise their own technology in a more seamless way at school.
In 2016, Heathcote High School is introducing the Bring your own device (BYOD) program for Years 7 and 8. Students in Years 7 and 8 are being requested to bring their own mobile computing devices to school for use in their classes. A filtered Internet connection will be provided for students to use for educational purposes. Further information can be accessed from the Heathcote High School website.
The devices Heathcote High School is recommending include:
- Windows laptops
- Windows tablets
- Chromebooks
- Macbooks
Please ensure that the device you purchase at least supports the 5GHz 802.11a/n wireless standard. Contact the school before purchasing the device if unsure.
If you would like more information please feel free to contact the school.
