Game Changer Challenge

The Game Changer Challenge (GCC) is the Department of Education’s award winning Design Thinking competition.

With the many challenges and problems we are facing today and in the future, we need to develop effective thinking and problem solving skills and processes to be able to solve them.

Design thinking applies the team’s critical thinking, creativity and collaboration skills combined with a five-step process to solve a broad range of problems.

The 2023 GCC wicked problem is: ‘Invent or innovate something that will change our world and leave a lasting impact.’

Four HHS teams of 5 students with a teacher mentor are researching the wicked problem and creating their video applications by Friday 26 May 2023.

Heathcote High School’s 2022 GCC team was one of three schools that won the opportunity to participate in an excursion to Lumination’s Learning Lab in Sydney. The Lumination Learning Lab is a multi-purpose and immersive learning experience where students are able to engage in lessons that develop their understanding of creating liveable cities and principles of sustainable development. They were able to enhance their GCC2022 solutions with artificial intelligence, virtual reality and augmented reality software.
