Our students achieved phenomenal success in the 2024 ANSTO National Science Week Hackathon.
FIRST PLACE in the Junior division. Our junior team comprised Toby M, Liam J, Olivia W, Amelia M, Chloe M, Jade W and Chevelle T. They will receive $1000 to split between them and a Science medal.
RUNNERS UP in the Senior division. Our senior team comprised Nicole L, Hannah F, Ella F, Darcy M and Catriona B. They will receive $500 to split between them and a Science medal.
The teams had to work together to create a 3 minute video and a one page summary with a solution for the challenge brief "How might we engage the community in supporting the survival of an endangered species?" which is based on this year's Science Week theme 'Species Survival: More Than Just Sustainability.'
Students had the opportunity to book time with ANSTO scientists, entrepreneurs with previous hackathon experience, and potential customers who can give them advice and feedback.
Thank you to Miss P Karanikolas, Head Teacher Science, for coordinating and supporting our students throughout the process. She praised both teams for their productive collaboration over the three days, highlighting their commendable positivity and teamwork as key factors in their success.
